About Us


Founded in 1998 by opera singer and voice teacher Judith Townsend, The Celestial Opera Company provides internships for student singers, a venue for professional singers, and beautiful music for the community, rendered with excellence by its own residents. Our Articles of Incorporation list the following purposes:

  1. To produce opera for performance.
  2. To educate in all the art forms that comprise opera (including but not limited to: singing, acting, music, dance, stage direction, costumes, sets, makeup, props, lights, curtains).
  3. To unite students of the arts, professionals in the arts and members of the community in the worthwhile goal of opera production and performance.
  4. To directly engage in, and to provide facilities for others to engage in the promotion of the arts generally.
